Please help. On May 22, there were two Black-bellied Whistling Ducks in my yard, under the bird feeder. The next morning, a lone egg was found. (I will post various posts in this thread to keep things in order).

We quickly set up a brooding box and researched what to do when and if this happens. We set up a heat lamp and turned the egg every eight hours like clockwork. On Day 5, we began candling the egg. The journey begins.

On May 31, Day 9, we began to see vein activity. We have a viable egg 🤗🤗 Temperatures were set and turning every eight hours continued.

Things are still progressing nicely (as far as we know). We are newbies to this and weren’t prepared to become duck parents.
