black copper marans or hybrid cross 5 weeks - pullet or cockrel?

Hello, with the help of our broody silkie we have hatched an egg from a friend that as given us a very cute little chick, however, we are not sure what it is, can you help please? The mum is likely to be a standard ginger but could also be a french blue, the dad is in the picture below. the chick is 5 weeks today. it has a few little feathers on its legs, much like it's daddy. no tail on the dad, neither on the chick.

any help for sex or type would be welcome. thank you

It has a fair amount of comb for that age, so I'm thinking it could be a cockerel. But I'd give it another couple of weeks to see how it stacks up then.

can anyone tell me what breed this is? it doesn't have a tail like the BCM...

It’s probably a mixed breed

The father could be rumpless because of an Araucana parent. That breed also has pea combs like the father. I don't think he is a purebred Marans. So the chick is very mixed.

Hello, our chick is now 6 months old, i think i was in denial too long but before i rehome it can you please confirm my suspicions that it is a rooster? no crowing, no spurs but its showed some mounting behaviour towards the lowest ranking hen...

Yes that's a cockerel.
