Black scab on chickens wattle - swelling

Hi, I have an isa brown that has a black spot (could be a scab) on her wattle, there is swelling surrounding it and the swelling has seemed to increase over the past two days.
What should I do? Is it anything to worry about? Everything else seems to be normal, she is eating drinking and nothing changed in behaviour. I am very inexperienced when it comes to chicken disease/infections

I can't quite tell if thats a normal scab or if its the start of fowl pox. Keep an eye on it, but either way their isn't much you can do. If its fowl pox you'll likely see more pop up on her face/comb and wattles, and on your other chickens. You can apply iodine to the lesions if fowl pox is what you're dealing with. It'll eventually run its course.
Hopefully it's just a minor pecking injury.

If it is fowl pox, the disease while persistent, is often, slow to develop. It may be possible to protect a portion of your flock by vaccinating ASAP. It has been reported to lessen the effects/duration or prevent other flock members from becoming infected if administered very soon after it first appears in a bird or two. There also is recommended treatments for the pox sores to aid in recovery(iodine). I would inspect this bird closely for indications of causes or if other spots are present or developing. There are very good articles about Fowl pox and treatment/prevention available. The good news is that dry pox (not the mucus membranes i.e.mouth,etc. called wet pox) is usually not fatal. Like suggested above, check her over for other ares that may be developing lesions, including her mouth. If it is fowl pox, hopefully it'll be a more minor cause or dry pox instead of wet.

Hi just an update, I went to check on her this morning and the scab has fallen off, is this a sign it may not be foul pox?

Yep! Thats a great sign! Usually fowl pox won't fall off on its own. I think its safe to assume this is a simple pecking injury rather than a viral infection.

Hi. I also have a hen that has the same small spot on one wattle and a huge “hard” swollen area on the other. This one also started small. Lancing did nothing. Any ideas? I started a thread also, but no luck
