Can anyone help me with my question. I just bought 15 BSL female chicks and one rooster chick. If I where to breed them when they get older would it be a black sex link or not?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. No, your offspring of your Black Sex Links will not be Black Sex Links as sex links are hybrids which will not breed true. You will not be able to sex the offspring by color; only first generation sex link chicks can be sexed by color. If you would like to breed your own Black Sex Links, you can cross a Rhode Island Red, New Hampshire, or Production Red rooster with barred hens (Barred Rocks, Dominiques, or Cuckoo Marans) and the chicks will be Black Sex Links. Black Sex Links are my favorite birds as they are friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I've raised them for years, and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per week per hen. You should get loads of large, brown eggs from those 15 girls.) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your BSLs.

Thanks so much I guest I will stick to hatching out jersey Giants and letting my black sex links lay eggs.

What could I use over these black sex link hens to get a sex link or what could I breed with the black sex link rooster to get a sex link chick?

You can't cross a Black Sex Link with any breeds and get Black Sex Link chicks. The only way to get Black Sex Links is to cross a solid colored rooster (dark colors work better than lighter colors and white will not work at all) with a barred hen. The offspring will then be sex linked. Male chicks will have a white spot on top of their heads; the tops of the heads of female chicks will lack the white spot. You can also breed Red Sex Links by crossing a red gene rooster (RIR, NH, or PR) with a silver gene hen (RIW, SLW, Delaware, LS, etc.). Male chicks will be whitish; female chicks will be reddish. But again these sex link offspring are only good for 1 generation. 2nd generation sex links will not produce sex linked offspring, either when bred with each other or when bred with other breeds.
