I'm planning blackjack 57 on my coop floor. I'm sure others besides me will have questions about this stuff so I'm making the title simple and easy to find.

I'll start it off with my question.
The instructions include something about how it dries in a few hours but takes 10 to 14 days to cure. If it doesn't cure it will be tacky. Weather has to be dry and warm/hot. It can be really difficult to predict 14 days of such weather. Of course the intended use is for driveway type repair which is exposed to whatever mother nature throws at it. My thinking is that the floor of my new coop is not exposed to weather. I understand letting it cure 14 days. I may never get even a week without rain. If it stays dry indoors could the product be applied before or even during rain? I'm already getting anxious about having to wait 14 days to move birds in, let alone trying to cut a deal with mother nature!
Another question . Would you reccomend coating the poop boards with blackjack 57 also? Or is paint better?

If possible I'd apply it on a relatively dry day. As you mentioned it can be pretty impossible to predict getting 14 days of dry, warm weather, so I'd just aim as close to ideal on the day(s) of application so it adheres properly and starts to surface dry properly. You'll want to do 2 coats, don't need for the first coat to fully cure before putting on second (mine was still tacky but dry enough to walk on without damage).

I don't have poop boards so not sure how this would hold up - it should work, but I can't say for sure.

@aart is correct, Black Jack 57 is a roof and foundation coating, it is not for driveways. Black Jack does have a driveway sealer though.

I used black jack in my coop, it's very durable and would use it again, if I ever needed it. I used a 4 inch paint brush to apply it to an 8 x 12 floor and 12 inches up the wall. Turn the can upside down 1 - 2 days before you will be using it, this will help when you stir it, it's very thick on the bottom. I used the five gallon can and it took me about 15 minutes to stir it with a long piece of 5/4 board. It's low in odor when applying it, less than paint IMO and the smell will not last long. It will be dry in about 24 hrs, but may be slightly tacky, then you can apply a second coat, which I recommend. It will take 7 - 14 days to fully cure, depending on how humid it is. After a week I put some shavings down and walked on them, they didn't stick or mess the floor up, so I felt good about it. I put my shavings in and moved the chicks in. You could apply it if it's raining, as long as the floor doesn't get wet, but it may take extra time before you can apply the second coat. It would be best to apply it on a nice day, if possible. Don't worry about the long range forecast, your not using it outside.

It may hold up on a poop board, it's very durable on the floor. I don't know anyone that used it on one though. I built my poop board after my chicks were in the coop, so I didn't want to use Black Jack with them in there. You could use it and see how it holds up, if it starts to give you problems, just cover the board with vinyl and tack it down with 1 x 2's around the edge.

Don't think it's meant for driveways, but roofs and foundations?

@blackdog043 @rosemarythyme have the best experience/advice that I can recall.
See? Proof I need a thread about blackjack cuz I I obviously know nothing about it:idunno..except that it is usually used outdoors rather than indoors like a chicken coop.
Unfortunately it also is proof I'm not too bright....search button? What's that?
Thanks for calling in @rosemarythyme and @blackdog043 . I got the answers I needed. Thank you to all 3 of you.

What did you use to apply it?
I used a 4 inch paint brush to do everything and did two lighter coats.
Your floor will have bedding and everything will be covered with chicken dust and poop anyway, so pretty only lasts a short time, but it will be well protected.

Is that one coat or two? First coat is going to be patchy, second should help even out everything.
First coat. Coating pallet walls is not something I ever want to try again. Add to that the bottim of the wall pallets were covered with hardware cloth before applying plywood. It's almost impossible to get blackjack in between the wire mesh openings and onto the plywood. Pallets were a genius idea before blackjack came on the scene. :barnie
