Blue Copper Maran egg colour

My BC Maran laid her first egg today. I am wondering if the colour will get darker or lighter as she gets older and into the swing of laying?

This looks like a very small egg...or is it about normal size? My first thought is that if this egg is especially small then the pigment is quite concentrated. I would predict that the color will get lighter as the eggs get larger (and as the hen matures), but I am no expert and I could be wrong!

Only time will tell how that birds coating color will develop @Ellieschickies .
It's normal for coating color to fade as the laying season progresses.

Congratulations on her first egg. It's so eggciting. The birds can lay various shades of dark brown eggs. I have some pullets that recently started laying. It's like Christmas every day. Good luck and have fun...

Thank you for your comment. It is quite small so like you say I think it will be concentrated on these few eggs. Very excited to see how they turn out once she is a bit older

It’s really is great. She is my first maran and I absolutely love her. Such a funny girl
