Hi! I got 7 day-old blue copper Marans Chicks. They are now 2
1/2 weeks old. I had some
Inkling in this group from early chest bumping, and combs popping out. Four of the seven are roosters, I think. Please give me your opinion....

Give them a few more weeks. Both sexes chest bump. I have only had one blue marans, so the ones with the bigger combs may be boys. You should know by 6-8 weeks if those combs are pink to red. Pullets will stay yellow orange longer.
Don’t they (others on here) say that if a red comb and wattles pop out, before their wings and tail feathers do, it’s usually a rooster?

Some breeds it does happen. I'm unsure if that's true in Marans. In this picture there are two I see with bigger combs, one has feathers, one doesn't, so I don't know if comb size is a sign of male in marans. I usually wait for that pink red at 6-8 weeks which most males will show by that age.

Ok. Thanks so much for your advice! ☺️ I just posted some pics of my black wyandottes on the correct thread this time.

Asking for advice there too. One of those is not like the others!

So this morning, the one with the most feathers out of all of them, attempted to crow several times! That blows my theory out of the water, huh? :lau
