Om adorableYet another updated picture I now think this little fella is mixed with silver appleyard and blue Swedish. It’s getting some brown coloration on its wings and tail. I can’t wait until this one fully feathered.![]()

It has to be a mix of something. Those are the only ducks she has. Pekin, appleyard, blue and black Swedish, khaki Campbell and a buff. It’s a combination of those, it’s not a purebred. What do you think it’s mixed with? This was from a neighbor not a hatchery.
What I'm suggesting is that the parents of your duck might not be purebred. Did your neighbor get her ducks from a hatchery, or did she get them from some random person?
I have Swedish blue drakes and Swedish blue and black hens... I just ended up with a mix of black, grey and yellow ducklings this week!! I've never heard of Swedish yellow being offspring of blacks and blues... might they become silver? It makes more sense to me than Pekin x blue Swedish cross because the allele that causes white in Perkins is recessive and is not usually carried by Blue Swedish. It is also not what causes silver Swedish to be white. I think the silver Swedish are beautiful, I’m not sure why people don’t sell them. I found one picture of a silver Swedish duckling. Yes, the yellow ducklings are silver, 2 blue alleles. The grey are blue, one blue allele. The black have no blue alleles. If you cross 2 blue, a Punnett square would say to expect 1/4 silver, 1/2 blue, 1/4 black. But, with black hens you would expect 1/2 blue and 1/2 black.I have Swedish blue drakes and Swedish blue and black hens... I just ended up with a mix of black, grey and yellow ducklings this week!!
