Bowl of water for chickens?

This may be a stupid question. We are going away for a few weeks and while I do have a chicken sitter, I felt the need to add extra water options to make myself feel better. I bought a second 1 gallon traditional waterer with the plan to put it in the run but then realized that having the sitter trying to open the run door would create more concern (it's a tricky door). I decided to just zip tie a bowl to the side fencing. My only concern is are these chickens going to stick their heads in too far and drown? I'd say it's 3 inches deep.

Depends on the birds. I’ve never had one drown, (knock on wood lol) but I did have a chick of about 4 weeks, who died of thirst because she jumped in the feeder and forgot how to get out (I don’t use that feeder anymore, because I plan on breeding for beauty and friendliness in my flock, not intelligence. That being said, two of my roosters can open simple locks)
