I let a broody Orpington hatch these guineas (she’s not the best forager but seriously the best mama). These guineas have been awesome (loud, but awesome). Our chickens and these new guineas have gotten along well (they free range). They seem friendly but not too invasive (like chickens). Any guesses at the gender? They are about 16 weeks. If they are male, will they become aggressive towards us or our dog? So far so good, just wondering what to expect. Thanks!

Females make a two syllable sound, that sounds like Buck Wheat. Males one syllable, and make a machine gun type call.

As for if they’ll be aggressive towards your dog, only time will tell. My males hate the neighbor’s small dogs with a passion but don’t mind my cats... it really depends. They are protective birds though. Humans? No, they shouldn’t become aggressive towards people. But will be wary of strangers and bad weather for sure.

Thanks everyone!! I swear I hear all kinds of noises from them. Sometimes I swear I have heard both - was hoping two females since the waddles haven’t curled yet. I appreciate all the info!
