I have a pair of porcelain brahmas. earlier I had 2 females and 1 male but now I have just the rooster and the hen.
Lately a few questions are coming to my mind. The eggs that they started laying were small. They have been laying eggs since a month by now. Still the size of the eggs is small. I understand brahmas' eggs are supposed to be giant sized!

I feel that the hen that died had fertile eggs and the eggs that I am receiving now dont show development in the egg at all.... I mean all the eggs that I have been placing in my Brinsea Ovation EX dont show any signs of development since the time I started incubating these brahma eggs. The only eggs that showed development were the ones whose mama died a few weeks back.

i have attached a few pictures of how i have found the eggs at the time of candling.

please advise me... i have really been looking forward to these chicks and i dont see them having any till now :(

The first few eggs are small and probably not fertile.

Brahmas and Cochins are very fluffy around the vent area. You might want to trim the feathers around the vent area of both the rooster and the hen. That might help with fertility.

At 6:15 you can see an extremely fluffy rooster get his trim.

This is an Araucauna getting a trim.
