Breast cancer: Q&As "URGENT"

I love the poem. There is no way in HE double hockey sticks that I will ever get a wig. What my support group and myself have been doing is shoping for head gear. I mean I have the head gear going on. I have something to match any color of cloths I might be wearing for the day. My favorite bandana says "Have you hugged you hog today" and has a pic of a pig. Of course its talking about a harley but in my world it will be talking about my two pot bellied pigs that are so spoiled it is unreal.

The way I'm gonna look at it is just like I did when people stared at me when I weighed 80lbs when I was the sickest with the anorexia. Stare at me the wrong way and your gonna get the stink eye and a comment or two that could not be printed here. Case closed and checkmate.

I reconigized some of the meds you mentioned that is part of my treatment.

I wish you the best of luck on Monday Sara.

Thanks Ginny, my sister and two friends are going with me. They are all freaking because we will be going in my ride and to pick everyone up I have to walk out the door at 4:40am. That will give us one hour and twenty minutes to get to the hospital. We always allow 15 or 20 minutes earlier just in case something slows us down and something always slows us down. Its usually animal related like the dog gets out and you gotta chase it down before you can go, stuff like that. lol

Its not gonna be a problem for me because I will probably still be up when its time to go. lol Told ya we keep strange hours here.

I will be thinking of you as well.

I have a busy week. On monday I had more surgery on the same breast, three times now. Tomorrow I get an echo test and then a bone density test and then see the plastic surgeon on the same day. April fools day I get to start chemo. The closer to the chemo day I get the more panic I seem to be having. Wish me luck!!

I wish I had a lap top to use during my chemo treatment to keep my mind off whats going on, then I could talk to you guys.

Healing stones rock!!!!!

I wish you the very best of luck Sara. Keep your stones with you, as I'll keep mine with me. I wish to have a laptop with me too. Oh well, guess I'll be reading a lot. I suppose we can bring a bag of stuff to take with us? Like small projects or something. This is where knitting would come in handy, except I don't know how to do that. What are you going to bring with you?

About 15 years ago, I got the dreaded diagnoses. Upper right quadrant in my right breast - after surrounding tissue was taken, nothing was found in that. But, had spread to my lymph nodes. My breast surgeon, Dr. Laura Cassidy, told me the statistics were the same for my type of and stage of breast cancer - lumpectomy or mastectomy, so I opted for the lump removal. Chemo, and radiation - had a medi-port in my left mammary artery which stayed there approximately 1 year in case the cancer returned. It did not. I go once a year to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, where I see Dr. Judd Patten for my regular checkup. So far, nothing has come back on me. I am not sure, but I believe the lump was staged as a 2B. If you need any other information or moral support, please message me.

I just wanted to update all you guys that have been great support with all your storys.

I got my first dose of chemo on April fools day and I didn't think it was funny at all. My second dose on the 16th and my third dose will be on the 30th.

I started loosing my hair on day 12. BOO HOO
I did shed a couple of tears but right now all my hair is almost gone. No reason to cry now. One way to look at it is "Man is it gonna be cooler for the summer." The bad thing is my poor bald head will get sun burned easily but I will be wearing one of the many hats and bandanas I have been collecting.

My oncologist told me I am not allowed to touch a chicken and she didn't know I have a ton of chickens. I have some hired help lined up to help me if Snakeman gets this job he has been checking on which is going out of town. We can not rely on unemployment right now since Obama or congress have things fowled up. One unemployment check in the last 5 weeks. Whats up with that? Anyone else having this problem? Off topic but........

I took the news about not being able to touch a chicken worse than losing my hair.

The month of May will be the same treatment as I received in April. Then in June my chemo meds change to weekly treatments for the next three months. Then after that I get Herceptin and radiation every three weeks for a year. Then a pill for 5 years.

Right now no appetite and wanting to sleep all the time are the most bothersome. I will update again soon and would love to hear any more storys.

You can still be with your chickens. Get yourself a mask, or make one out of one of your scarves. I worked with my chickens and Luna is still with hers. Put a bottle of hand sanitizer outside your coop. Wash your hands all the time. If you have gloves, wear them.

I had my last Herceptin treatment in October. Gentech as a website and forum for those of us who have been taking their drug. Lots of foks over there that have details on HER2 Breast Cancer.

It's a hard fight but YOU CAN DO THIS!!

ETA-- here's the link to the HER2 forum--- http://her2support.org/vbulletin/index.php

Hey guys, my friend finally sounded interested in talking to other people going through chemo, but she is not a chicken person so has no interest in coming here.

I surfed the various cancer support forums I could find and sadly this one seems the nicest easiest to use and active forum I could find!!

Are chickens the difference?? Actually this one is also laid out better than others.....

Do any of you know of a cancer forum that even comes close to this one??
