Breeding quail from same hatch? Inbred?

Can quail from the same hatch (brothers/sisters) breed without genetic issues in the chicks? I'm reading conflicting information.

It's not ideal but you shouldn't get any birth defects or anything like that. The usual result of a few generations of inbreeding is a reduction in the size of the offspring.

It depends on what genes they're carrying. If there is a recessive in the group for some issues, it will start to show.

The rule of thumb is you can go 3 generations without issues, then you should switch your roosters for new blood.

If your going to line breed, it's better to breed father/daughter or mother/son. Breeding siblings, in general, isn't practiced by breeders. If there are any genetical issues, they will turn up sooner breeding sibling x sibling....which is bad because you'll whind up culling most of your hatch.
It happens in nature but those with genetic defects usually don't survive long enough to reproduce.

You say brother / sister but are they realy. All your eggs were laid by the same hen?

Yeah.... they definitely weren't. We have almost none the same color.

Then you can practice mass selection. Just cull or don't breed anything that is not what you want, be picky.
