It’s Breeding Season Again! 🦚

I’m excited to hear your thoughts on what combinations I should try for breeding this season and what potential offspring I might get from these pairings!

Here’s what I have:

Males:

  • White
  • Pied White-Eyed
  • BlackShoulder Pied White-Eyed
  • India Blue Split to White

Females:

  • White
  • Pied White-Eyed
  • Pied
  • BlackShoulder
  • 8 India Blue Split to White

What are your suggestions for pairings, and what genetic outcomes can I expect? Looking forward to your insights!

The breeding season starts in the fall, for your best results, the breeding group needs to be together all winter so they can be accustomed to each other and acclimate to their environment.

Next you need to decide what outcomes you wish to achieve. Then you can decide what genes you have to meet those goals.

I would put the Pied WE pair together and the BS Pied WE cock with the White, Pied, and BS hens. The rest will only make White or splits to White.

Thank you for your suggestions! @KsKingBee
I’ve been meaning to post this thread for a while, but I’ve been quite busy lately.
I’m currently looking to add more peachicks with unique patterns to my collection.
Here’s what I currently have:
  • Paid WE together
  • BS Paid WE with BS and White
  • White with Paid and 2 Split White
I really liked your suggestion about keeping patterns separate from White and Blue. It makes a lot of sense!

I do have one question about my Paid hen. She’s a 2-year-old hybrid peahen. Do hybrid hens mature at the same age as normal Indian Blues (IB)?

They do not, depending on the amount of Green blood they have, can offset their maturity
