broiler booster, ever used it??

So my husband and I are getting 13 broilers and we were told they would be ready in 8 weeks. Then a freind of ours told us to process them at 6 weeks because they get to fat for their feet to support them. I then said no to the broilers until I found this product in Murry Mcmurray's catalog,
Broiler Booster. It says it will give them the nutrition that they need for proper growth. Has anyone used this and have any opinions??

I used it last year with great success. I think its really good to get them off to good start. I grew mine to 9/10 weeks with no problems. I think the MOST important thing is to remove their feed at night as this will slow them down a little. Mine dressed at females 5.5lbs and males at 7.5lbs. Never have have I seen prettier looking meat. Good luck

I have done batches with and without, and they turned out the same. I think a lot of it depends on the feed you're using. If you are feeding a good, complete feed, you may not need it. The boosters usually contain an electolite, which can be helpful for the first week. I would check the feed you are going to use to see what all is in it.

I've used it with the Slo Gro Broilers with good success. Every little bit helps to raise them healthy at our altitude. Since they grow so fast, I think the booster gives them a little help particularly at the beginning.

I have done batches both with and without. Not much of a difference. The birds can be raised past 6-8 wks with out a problem. One batch I did without the booster got processed at 11 wks and all 30 made it okay.

I've used it in the past, but only during the brooding stage.

I've had great luck with my Cornish X's. I agree that taking the feed away for 12 hrs a day is the key. A friend of mine just lets them eat all the time and he has so many losses each year. He wont listen though

Thanks everyone, the feed will be out of reach in the evening. We decided if the first batch goes well then well purchase some more chicks this summer.
