Broken Breyer horse-Need repair ideas

My 4 yr old DD broke her Breyer horse's front leg, just below the knee (for the life of me having horses and breathing, I can not remember the name of that bone!

). It is a non bearing load leg. The horse is Starlight part of the Breyer series.

DD dropped the horse on the wooden floor and the leg snapped off.

So what is the solution I can use to put the leg back together again? Elmer's glue wont cut it, I am certain of it. I think the model is made of resin? I hope it does not break again.

I am planning on getting more for DD for her birthday coming up in May of more Breyer horses but I may have to resort getting heavy breeds so the legs dont snap as easy.

I wonder if Super Glue would work? But then again it could melt the resin?

Ahhh, I know this, but I can't remember the details! I believe that the material is actually acetate and that the repair technique involves acetone (acetone nail polish). There are some good websites that explain it in detail. I am at the office and my printed info about this is at home....

You need to very carefully dab each broken end with acetone nail polish remover, it will soften the resin the horse is made from. Then, push the ends together and hold perfectly still for a minute or so and then put is some place safe to reset. It will always be fragile so tell DD to be careful with him

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot or any hardware store, they'll have a selection of adhesive's and look for one that lists resin. I just got some jbweld to fix a piece of metal furniture but was amazed at the selection of adhesive's for any application, I remember reading resin as
one of the medium's that could be repaired on some of them.

I fixed my daughter breyer horse by drilling a small hole in each end. Then I used a tooth pick dipped in glue then placing the two ends back together. I let it sit for a few days and it has held up great.
Oh I used model glue to connect them back together it dries quick.

AH HA! I have the answer!

My DD dropped her Breyer 2 months ago and it broke in the exact same spot! DH purchased some glue specifically made for plastics (made by superglue I think) at Lowes and it fixed it perfectly! Cant even tell it broke! Took about 24 hours for it to fully harden (it dries w/in 3 mins or so), but it worked beautifully - only costs about $3-4.00 for the glue.
