I mostly need a place to share pictures of the sweet babies :lau
Two days ago one of my Valley quail successfully hatched two chicks. She still has other eggs and is using the nest so more may be on the way, but for now it's just the two.
This wasn't 100% planned (as in I don't know if the aviary is completely "baby proof") so I can't say for sure how everything will go but so far the babies are doing great!

How are your valley chicks doing?? I hope very well. What an awesome hen you have!!
Oh I forgot to reply to this 😅 The chicks and Mum did amazing! I believe we have two little hens. I'm in the process of setting up a second aviary so I can separate the babies and then sell them.

The second hen did go broody too but she abandoned the nest, probably cause the eggs were bad or the fact these babies were still using that nest and were disturbing her too much.

So about a year later.
I never did sell the two chicks because I genuinely lost track of who was the chicks and which were my two original hens.
But I've come back to say one of the girls is currently hatching again! I spotted three babies, there seems to be four shells... they are awfully camouflaged chicks though I could only find one at first.
There is also a second broody quail in the other half of the aviary, I've currently separated this one hatching from the rest as she was sitting on about 16 fertile eggs, I don't want to accidently lose track of anymore 🫣
