Broody hatched 3 babies and left the nest, got locked up in a separate area and another baby hatched and looks really weak

Well, Bernadette has 3 babies. The 4th beautiful one lived about a day and died.😢 It had some obvious issues, and passed sometime this evening. Her and the 3 babies are good though. I try to be as hands off as possible. Let nature take it's course, but it's hard sometimes . 😥 I don't ever want anything to suffer, especially a tiny little floofy baby ...as soon as I get a pic, you will be the first to know! ❤️🐤🐥🐤 Thank you again. You were a great help!
Congratulations on 3 healthy babies. Sorry about the other baby. It's always sad. I take it she is off the nest and the other eggs are not viable?

Enjoy watching her raise them. It is really beautiful to observe a hen teaching her chicks the rules of the flock, calling to them and feeding them and of course seeing them poke their little heads out from under her feathers.

Well, one died last night. So she has 2 seemingly healthy babies. And I'm sitting here, with a Muscovy in my lap, that hates to be touched, and he has his head laying on my arm. He is not moving his right leg. I don't feel anything that feels broken...it feels swollen, but he's not using it at all. I seen his toes barely move earlier, but that's it. He has a few holes, small ones like the size of a tooth. Our dog came in earlier, he was outside with his pawpaw, and I said he has blood on him. My husband, his pawpaw, said no that's mud. I said no, it's not mud. It's blood. The dog is white, and we do have red clay around here, but I knew it was blood. So we went and did a roll call at the duck and chicken coop. We were missing one of our Muscovy drakes. So we took the tractor around looking for him. He was at the waterfall in the creek. Laying on the bank. I knew when we backed the tractor up and got about 10 foot from him, and he didn't move, that something was bad wrong. He's such a touch me not normally. Like he has serious personal space issues. I walked over to him and he barely tried to get away. His right leg was straight out behind him. He was dragging it like it was dead. I've felt all around it, and I don't know what's wrong. 😭😩 Wish me luck. He's a beautiful blue or gray or lavender or lilac I'm not sure which, but he's got some white on him too his name is whitey bulger because he's always had this look about him like a distinguished, angry gangsta.

The tooth holes are in his chest area, not on his leg. Realized I did not specify their location.

The drake, our gangster hit man, whitey bulger, is doing better. He seems to improve a little each day. I'm not real sure what happened to him though. I don't think those are tooth punctures on his chest area, it's more like feathers got ripped out ..I think. I've been soaking him in the tub, and he has been using his leg some. He still has trouble standing on it, but he IS standing on it some. He limps really bad, and I can tell it hurts him, but he is using it more everyday. I'm still not sure what happened, but the husband seems to think it was a fight with another drake. I'm 99% sure it was not the dog though. He is eating and drinking and mostly just chilling out in the dining room. I know he's feeling better than he was, because at first, I put him on the couch with pee pads and blankets, and of course myself. 🥰 I refuse to miss a once in a lifetime chance to cuddle the grouchy gangsta, but once he started to feel a tiny bit better, he moved himself to the floor and then to the dining room. 🙄 And he's back to his touch me not butthead self. So rude. 🙂 Which means he's feeling kinda like his old self again. So, fingers crossed he continues to get better.
The chicken babies, are doing good. Momma hen brings em out every day and shows em scratching and all sorts of other cute little adorable chicken things.
The duck babies are growing so fast. We have lost 2 from the newest batch
When I went in to feed and water them, 2 days in a row, there was 1 little baby laying there, seems like a broken neck on both, so i dont know if they are just getting trampled or what. The momma has 18 of 20 babies left. The other 2 hens have 23 between the 2 of them. We kinda gave up trying to keep em separate. We separated them, then some babies got out of one pen, and into the other. Separated them again, same thing happened. Then the one mom got out of her pen and was with the other hen, and it's just been crazy, so those 2 hens, and their 23 babies, are all mingling together. 🤷🏻‍♀️. Apparently they wanna be together. They are sisters and have always run together. Even went broody a few days apart.

And the pic I posted up above, is obviously a hen. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️. I don't know what happened there. 🤔 I'll post a pic of the real whitey bulger here. Well, it's mostly his backside, but it's him😆. He's the white and gray one that's leading the way. He just looks like a hitman for the Mafia. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am so happy to hear he is doing better! Is he getting enough niacin in his diet? Sometimes that affects the ability to walk well. Sounds like it was an injury, but just a thought. You can also give him baby aspirin in he seems painful at all. Is he an old gangster or a youngster?

Sounds like all the babies are doing great! I just love watching mamas raise their babies 🥰

Whitey bulger was hatched out about a year ago. So he's a youngster, but still gangster as all get out. 🙄😆. I've been giving him some peas mixed with his food. The day we found him, he had bright red places on his chest, almost looked like blood blisters they were so red. The next day, it looked horrible and looked raw and kinda scabbed over on the one side. So I really have no idea what kind of gangster related activities he got into. My husband said the first day that maybe he flew into something, but I don't know. He won't tell me what happened. You know how gangstas are with the whole snitches get stitches thing, so he's all quiet about whatever happened. 🙄I wondered about the niacin too, but the places on his chest just didn't go with that. When I saw it looked scabbed over or something, I thought he must've got attacked by the dog, then I saw they weren't puncture wounds, and all the other injuries I've seen on every duck that got attacked by the dog, he didn't have. So I'm still really clueless as to what the poor guy went through. We even thought maybe a turtle tried to get him, but we ruled that out super quick. 🤷🏻‍♀️🦆 Either way, I'm so glad to see him getting his mob hitman attitude back. He is using his leg even more today, so fingers crossed, he is gonna be his even fiestier self soon. The side eye looks I been getting are making me think he's gonna put a hit out for me next. 😆
