Broody Hen Wont Drink Water But is eating.

Well it's been a week and so far she seams to be sat on the eggs and doing Fine.
Only Thing that end up going wrong was she actually broke an egg that had an undeveloped chick and it was very upsetting.
The chick was still pink and had blood vessels attached to it meaning she must of by mistake stepped on the egg. It's very stressful loosing eggs like this. But sometimes hens do not know what they are doing, as for a first timer, which it is for hers. Let's just hope this doesn't happen again, as she will be sad in the end with no chicks hatching.
I won't post any images of the chick she squashed as its quite disturbing but It had just a week more to go before hatch. Such a shame these things happen. 😞

This is where the old adage comes from, “don’t count your chickens before they hatch!” This is discouraging and I prefer to think of it as in a genetic fault of the egg shell. Sometimes it happens.

If you get 50% of your eggs to hatch, that is the average. If you have only lost one, you are doing well.

It is not the fault of the chicken. Nothing and no one is to blame. It just happens. Even people hatching in perfectly controlled incubators do not hatch 100% very often.

Keep your realistic attitude, celebrate your live ones, don’t think on the lost ones.
