I have 11 hens (RIR, I think!), 2 decided to go broody at almost 1 year old and about 3 weeks apart. I have no rooster so I got some fertile eggs and different breeds. The first broody is fine, has 5 chicks (now about 2 weeks old) and protects her chicks from flock. Broody 2 has 3 black Americanas that are 1 week old. We let her out of her separate pen just like Broody 1 and she is being pecked and bullied by the flock. She can't protect herself and the babies. Any advice would be very much appreciated!!!

Can you put her back in her separate pen til the chicks are older?

Thanks Judy! I did put her back for her own safety. I'm hoping to try letting her back out next weekend and see what happens. Otherwise I'll have to wait until peeps are a little bigger.
