My broody girls now have food water and a 4x4 piece of wood to stand on. I also made a rain shield from plastic and pegs to keep them dry. The dog cage is raised off the ground on bricks. I will let them return to the coop tonight but if still broody I will return them to broody jail tomorrow. Please friends take a look and tell me if this is now ok for my girls to break their broodiness?

Looks OK to me.
Are they both in there....and have they calmed down?

@aart I had 3 nesting boxes, 2 broody hens taking up 2 boxes. The other 3 hens used the 3rd box.

I would think the broodies might try to use the 'un-cooled' nest(s)?

I would have thought that too and really expected it to happen.

yes they calmed down and actually seem to like it

I feel so mean locking them in broody jail. They look sad . I hope their broodiness breaks real soon
