One of my chickens has begun laying at 21 weeks. I have Buff Orpingtons and Easter Eggers. I thought one of my Buffs would lay first because her comb is bright red and she started squatting. On our camera I have seen one Buff and one EE going in and out of the boxes but only the Buff is making noise (the EE is completely quiet) and the Buff chases the EE away from the boxes. The eggs look pink to me but maybe they are just a really light brown? Some have said the eggs must be coming from the EE due to the color but from the look of the chickens and behavior, I really think it’s the Buff. Can a Buff lay this color? The EE just looks more curious - follows the Buff around and inspects the boxes but doesn’t stay in them. In the 2nd pic they look more brown but are actually pinkish.

one of my silkies just laid an egg like that! My camera couldn’t pick up the coloring, but they look the same. Is that common for silkies too?
