Hi everyone, my buff Orpington is about 5 week old, and I am having some concerns about the sex. When I first got him/her I had a feeling that it may be a rooster but I thought it was just my nerves. Where I live, roosters are prohibited so I would like to know what he/she is ASAP so I can find him/her a good home where roosters are allowed. I don’t have other buff Orpingtons to compare him/her to but my black australorp and barred rocks have a smaller comb and wattles.

Thank you guys! How can you tell so easily?
Its all about age. At 6 weeks, a buff orp pullet will still have a small orangish comb. They won't turn red until they're about 20 weeks or so, sometimes later. Cockerels will start turning red early, usually 6-8 weeks, and grow a much larger comb earlier.
