Quick Question: What is the earliest you have heard your buff orp chicks try to crow??

Okay that is about right.. I thought I was losing my mind, I heard an attempted crow and I know the oldest chicks in there are the ones we got Easter weekend. . I guess I won't have to wait as long to figure out who is male and who is female LOL

Hello! I have BOs for 3 years and I really love them. Last year, I added a Lavender hen and a Columbian rooster to my flock. He is now been rehomed to be a daddy at another farm.
I have a question about the color of chicks from this columbian. I've read at a site that the offspring of Columbian x Buff will give either golden/yellow or silver chicks. The site also says that the golden/ yellow chicks are males and the silver are females. Does anyone know if this is really true?

Thank you for replying! I checked it out and read about the color phenotypes. Sounds true, but I also read from another source that the light yellow means pullet, so I am confused. I just can't believe that my hatch has 4 golden/ yellows out of 6 so far

I wonder if anybody had chicks from a similar cross.

Is this chick a Buff Orpington? It's supposed to be a pullet and about 4.5 weeks in this picture.

Not necessarily a late bloomer.. I have 4 buffs and I think 3 are roo's but only one has started to try to find his voice.. I wouldn't worry, roo's will find their crow soon enough
