Heyo! My wife and I have been members of this forum for a long time, but recent started a bug farm and figured we should make an official account for our little farm - Hive Queen Insects!

We got into quail and then chickens, but found ourselves rooting around in the woods with our little cluckers at our feet as we broke and cracked logs to find them termites - that would pour out in huge piles. The birds would feast, and grew to trust us too much maybe (sorry Buffy for bonking you that one time). Fast forward a few years and we realized we probably should just start raising our bugs for them! Now we've got 4 commercial species and are trying to make a go of this as a really fun side hobby and hustle - one where we get to meet a lot of awesome people and the pets they love.

If anyone in the Raleigh NC region or beyond (we are shipping pretty successfully!) would like some bugs for their chickens or other pets, give us a shot!

Check us out - we're Hive Queen Insects. We love to chat about bugs and chickens, so please reach out!

Hi! That sounds really cool. My chickens are happy to find there own bugs free ranging, but I hope you get a lot of business and customers, and wish you well on your journey! Welcome back to byc!

Thank you!!

We too free range but have found that the amount of insects around has sharply declined since all the folks near us use the infernal mosquito spray. Yet no change in mosquitos, and they still never come outside. So they get their supplement bugs and they work as an effective bribe and "get over here right this second" summoning system!

I like the fact you have an actual website and not just a FB page.
I bet the local fisherman /women love your worms. I can tell you I just about had a coronary when I went to our local bait shop to buy a tub of live meal worms and paid $6.00 for 30 worms. I didn't count but I doubt there were 30 in there. Talk about sticker shock. I don't know if pricing is a regional thing and we live in an area where it seems every other person owns a boat or fishes. Your pricing seems much more reasonable. I share this information to give folks a point of reference for comparison. I wish you much success.

Once they arrive, how long do they live, and how do you keep them alive for a month until more arrive?
