Building a diy incubator, need help with the ventilation holes

Hi all,
I was curious how you folks were implementing your ideas for a diy incubator. Which ever your style takes you, most important thing is getting accurate readings from your temperature and humidity gauges. Testing it for 24 hours is a must.

I want to build this incubator (already got the parts) and I need help some help. heres a simple design of whats going to be built, the aspects are 40*35*35

first of all, to get the best results where on the box do I need to drill the vent holes? How many and what size should they be?
and I still dont know where to install the water pot...
can anyone tell my why should the fan blow the air up?how does air circulation work in this design? i thought that because hot air goes up the fan should blow it down but ive seen in so many incubators that the fan blows the air up..

The acceptable range is between 97 ° and 102 ° F. Mortality is seen when the temperature drops below 96 ° F or rises above 103 ° F for a number of hours. If the temperature is either extreme for a few days, the eggs may not hatch. Overheating is more critical than overheating.

Reading this thread makes me want to build another incubator with different materials. I crafted my 1st incubator out of wood panels with a glass window. I hatched 8 porcelain D'uccles in that one. Sorry this isn't helpful.

I agree it does look pretty nice. Wow.

I'm worried if both lights going at the same time will get too hot though. Maybe you can test the temperatures a bit. (And it seems like testing one of the temperatures after its been going a few hours at night also with buildup is different from a spot check, after its only going a few minutes.)

And I believe when using light bulbs you need to cover them with something metallic so that the eggs won't be affected by the hot light
