I have built 3 chicken coops that replicate the American Coop by Carolina Coop. I've had people ask me to build them one. Is it legal for me to build and sell if they look like the Carolina Coop?

Well, I wonder if that's akin to the "Bob Ross Style" of painting? People follow his technique and paintings can be purchased on line but they all indicate "style" in their description. Sort of the same concept. I don't know why it would matter if it looks like theirs, products are copied with knock offs all the time.

hubby copied the Carolina Coop American coop design for our 2 coops. He often wonders about building them for others but the price point is not good! We paid 3k or more for our first one and probably 2k for the smaller one. Good luck! love the American coop design. the interior windows and the ability to open the back makes it super easy to access to clean.

Beautiful coops. I would be willing to buy one as I love their designs, but who can afford their prices? Crazy expensive. I guess if you sell them for the cost of the materials and add in a reasonable labor rate you would still make a profit - then there's the shipping issue.

the second coop was build to fit on the back of a pickup truck bed. He built both coops with the pocketholes so it can be disassembled easier too. I dunno. Remember all that stimulus money we got around covid? yea, every penny went towards that first coop. The cost of lumber was so cringy then too. Glad its held up tho. Coop will be 4 years old this summer and I have zero complaints. finally finished all hardware cloth skirts and a french drain this fall. pea pebbles to surround both coops next season. 🤞🐓❤️
