Hello all,
My three year old rooster Goth Boy has a black spot on the back of his leg and bumblefoot on his back toe. We're not sure if bumblefoot can happen anywhere else besides the bottom of the foot or if it can spread to up there. Is this a thing that can happen?
He doesn't put a lotta weight on this foot, but he does still walk on it.
The black stuff came off in chunks and there was blood underneath. Should we treat this as bumble or as something else?
We soaked him 10 minutes in warm epson salt, treated his bumblefoot on the toe, and took off the black stuff on his back leg. We sprayed it with vetericyn plus and put Neosporin on it before wrapping it up. If there's anything else y'all suggest we do, please let me know!!
Attached are pictures of what it looks like before we did any treatment (we did also take care of that little bumble spec on the middle of his foot), and what he looks like. I'm not sure what breed he is but he does usually have feathers on his feet/legs but they usually grew in on the sides. I'm not sure if feathers grow on the back of his legs.
Thank you kindly for taking the time to read this and for any advice given. Goth Boy has been with us since the beginning of our chicken raising and he is our best alpha roo <3
