my mom used to use a fels naphtha and sugar poultice on my big toes when I got an infected ingrown nail. Has anyone tried this on bumblefoot? Drawing out an infection is drawing out an infection, right?

Well, not exactly. What isn't toxic to a human could be very toxic to a chicken. You should do research on the Fels Naptha soap to be sure it isn't going to hurt the chicken.

Just the sugar alone would draw out the infection. But a twenty minute warm soak in Epsom salt will also draw out the infection safely and help rinse away foreign material, making it much easier to lift off the scab with the accumulated pus.

Keep the foot well lubricated with an antibiotic and bandaged for a few days, and minor cases are completely healed. More stubborn cases take longer, of course.
