Hi,
My rabbit has a poopy butt and I don't know how to get it off. I cut some off but there is like a ball of hard sticky yucky, so please give me any suggestions you have to get her cleaned up. She has never been really healthy so her butt always gets dirty like this. thanks much!

Feeding the bunny lettuce will contribute to this mess, so i stopped doing that. But it still happens sometimes.

You might want to get some probiotics into her to help with the wet butt. I'm just wondering why she has it. Is she in a wire cage where her droppings fall through? Rabbits eat their poops in the morning and it works like a probiotic for them. They need to do this.
They also need hay. Is she long furred? If so sit down and lay her against you on her back and have hubby trim around her butt. Rabbits seem to settle when held on their backs as long as they feel secure. If you are trimming her alone, sit and put her head towards your belly with her on her back. It's easier with two people though.
A sink sprayer does work well. You might want to set her down into the water until it soften up some.
Hopefully some of the rabbit breeders will add their imput.

Thanks so much, what would be considered probiotics for a bunny? I will get her some. I don't know why but she has always had a problem with the poopy butt. I don't have anyone to help with my bunny I take care of her and one other bunny she has no problems like this.

She should always have hay in front of her. You can get the powdered probiotics at Tractor Supply. They cost around $8. It's a 240 g container, blue and white and says probios on the front.
She might have worms or something else going on if she has a wet bottom a lot. I know pet shops sell a probio medication especially for small animals. My experience has been that the one I use works on any animal.
Chin bunny or one of the other rabbit breeders on here might know what to check for if she has the runs a lot.
Good Luck with her!

Make sure you get Timothy hay and not straight alfalfa. The higher protein could be causing the issue. I'd give her as much hay as she can eat and cut out the carrots for now.
