Forget the chickens, I might enjoy it!I like the coconut oil leg and foot rub idea! I should give that a try. They don't have any issues but they might enjoy it.

Dads are so practical. We're talking about spa days and he pulls it off with a napkin.I've never had a major problem with it so I don't know. I just let them walk around with poopy butt and the problem solves itself. I might pick one up and examine it if I notice it's looking really bad but otherwiseIt happens and it goes away on its own as they get older.
My dad would just rip it off lol. Grab a napkin, grab the chick and pull the stuck poop off. I haven't gone that extreme lol. I just don't worry about it until I notice it's a major problem.

I'm sure the chicks would have preferred a spa day. But they probably forget the trauma after a few minutes haha.Dads are so practical. We're talking about spa days and he pulls it off with a napkin.![]()
It shouldn't hurt them. Have you tried just wiping it off with a washcloth and some warm water? That worked on one of my Bielefelders who had a poopy butt for a few days.I'm having this issue with my bantam cochins. Would trimming feathers around their cloaca hurt them? Do you just use scissors?
Thanks for the tip. I just moved to southern Utah and it's dry dry dry, and so am I I I! I'm guessing I'll have to mailorder the tallow salve. On a side note, whipped tallow with a little lavender is an amazing foot moisturizer. My feet get DRY in the desert and I use this at night then put on socks and by morning my feet look great. I use it on my hands, too.
