A chicken I recently got has been loosing her coordination and appetite rapidly. Two days ago I saw she was slow and slightly lethargic, I looked at her and realized she had a poopy butt that was preventing her from pooping. She was also smelling very bad and looked dehydrated.
After bringing her home and cleaning her she was eating a little and walking short distances. She was pooping without problem, but the poops were small amounts of white liquid or some solids. I think this is because she isn’t eating enough.
Yesterday she was wobbly on her feet and sitting more than walking. Now she is only sitting and falls on herself when she tries to walk. She sticks out her wings for balance and cannot place one leg infront of the other.
I don’t believe she is egg bound and I know she is vaccinated for Mareks. I have been offering her eggs, electrolyte water, and chicken food mash that has electrolyte water added. She has had very little appetite and I’m wondering what else to do or what could be causing this.
Besides her poopy butt, she has had no external issues and there are no obvious joint issues/wounds that would be impacting her ability to walk. She is a standard Easter Egger between 2-4 years old.
Thank you for any advice and let me know if photos/extra info would be helpful.
