This was a "simplification exercise."
I was just trying to draw a cartoon chickadee because I wanted to catch up and go to bed and not go overboard with the effort.
It was super easy and fun and not stressful.
Just slapped down a few shapes
So why is it kinda realistic tho... 😂
Yes I did realistic shading because pencil just lends to that more
But this just convinces me that Chickadees are living cartoons
Or maybe I'm trying too hard to replicate everything in the reference and not just the general shapes

Megapodes are actually "super precocial"
"Megapodes are mainly solitary birds that do not incubate their eggs with their body heat as other birds do, but bury them. Their eggs are unusual in having a large yolk, making up 50–70% of the egg weight.[5] The birds are best known for building massive nest mounds of decaying vegetation, which the male attends, adding or removing litter to regulate the internal heat while the eggs develop. However, some bury their eggs in other ways; there are burrow-nesters which use geothermal heat, and others which simply rely on the heat of the sun warming the sand. Some species vary their incubation strategy depending on the local environment.[4]"

I’ve skipped two days so I can be caught up, I’ll do them either at the end of the month or when I have the chance.
I really enjoyed using pencil as well. I think the owl and poult are my favorites so far.

The owl is so pretty and the I love the pigeon's crown! And its glowing eye!
The poult is cute but I noticed its forehead is missing it's snood!
