Day 7: Backyard bird. These little guys hang around sunning themselves in our field all day, especially this time of year!

I’ve got the cutest ever photo of a baby killdeer, I should see if I can find it just to share…

Corvid Crew

Wasn't sure whether to draw a blue jay or a black billed magpie so I just did both
Even though they could hardly qualify as a crew since their

Also, if you are ever motivated to draw a blue jay just suppress that motivation because that is one of the hardest birds to draw ever
I'm just kidding of course but...
I started on a new page but it just wasn't turning out and the tail was cut off so I just gave up and ripped out that page.
Then I ended up drawing it too close to the edge again and just accepted that the tail was going to be cut off because Jay tail lengths always catch me off guard they are just so much longer than I expected.
The Magpie, however, was a joy to draw. Somehow spread wings make more sense to me than folded wings even though they take longer and the pattern of the wings is just so fun.
I sort of want to clean up the black using ink but also all that was exhausting.

I just did a Jay so it could count for today’s and yesterday’s drawing (I couldn’t get a pic because I lost my sunlight before I finished it); you’re right, that bird was a pain to draw.
Their blue isn’t quite the same blue that you’d think.
