I just spoke to the agent - she called me when she saw my online application - and apparently we look great on paper! She said yes, we can take the cats, yes the owner would welcome a long lease, yes I can see it tomorrow.

We are not sure why the property is so cheap. We do know that there is little work in the town, and that the city is 60km away, with lots of available housing. This place is the only house available to rent in the town hubby will be working in too. There is also a town nearby with an excess of rental properties which are all really cheap, and again there is no work there either.

Put it this way - unless there is a dead body in the lounge room or it's covered in animal or human faeces, we'll be applying for this house! The outside certainly looked lovely.

Good luck Krista. So are you going to be able to keep your same job? We moved 2 years ago about 2 hours from where we were, when my DH was offered a promotion with his company, with relocation necessary. I had to change jobs, but it has been the best for us! I love my new home and now I have chickens and ducks, and lets not forget my turkey, where I wasn't able to have before. Well technically, we have an HOA that prohibits anything other than house pets, but we are at one far end of the development, only one house past ours, so only the 2 closest neighbors even know we have barnyard animals. And its only "temporary" until they get old enough to move to our camp, which is about 45 minutes away. We have 2+ acres, and nobody comes out our way, so I think we can get by with it for a while.

Best to you and I hope hubby loves his new opportunity!

Good luck Krista. So are you going to be able to keep your same job?

Yes, I'll get to keep my job, but there will be a lot of travel involved. From where I hope to live, to where I work, is 230km - each way!

I only work one day a week in the office though, so the plan is (after getting a house, of course) to drive to work at 6.30am on a Monday morning, arriving around 9am. Then work the full day as per usual, and stay at Mum and Dad's house overnight. Then I'll wake up, have breaky, and drive 2 1/2 hours home again.

Mum and Dad are stoked that I'll be staying with them. Hubby says it will be fine - basically, I'll be leaving as he heads off to work, he'll have the night to himself once a week, and I'll be back for his lunch the next day. The rest of my work is done from home, so that won't change much. Plus, I won't be working on the farm anymore (we both quit yesterday, giving a month's notice) so I'll have extra time anyway. And I guess I won't have any chook work to do either.

If I have a baby (fingers crossed) the plan is much the same, except I'll be dropping the bub off to day-care one day a week while I'm at work!

Today the neighbor girls decided that it was neighbor appreciation day.
We all got a balloon and a coffee cake.
So My husband and I gave everybody pots of flowers. When I took them over to the boys across the street, he was,"I don't understand, what's going on?"
I said, "well, I brought your mom some work."
He said, "That's cool"
yeah.
Then I heard his mom say, "what's going on today?"
And he said, "It's work, mom"

My husband took the girls some fresh eggs and the eldest opened the door and he said, "Thank you for the coffee cake. I think neighbor appreciation day should go national."
The girls were so happy that they started a domino event.
We put in a small flower bed for the older lady next door, we do her yard and sweep her roof and things like that.
She called me over to give my son a graduation present, so it was just one big neat day around here.
