In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a newsgroup, forum, chat room, or blog) with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion, often for their own amusement.

This ! And I keep forgetting that you must not feed the troll.

I know the definition. But I just thought we were having a discussion. I have been so insanely misunderstood it's astounding. I'm reading back my posts but I am unable to see what I did wrong?

Don't worry Lsky. I understand what you were going for. It is interesting to see the difference between various English speaking nations and their culture. I know you don't mean any harm. Hey guys, she's a kid.

Thank you Bant. The last thing I wanted to do was to offend anyone. I was asked why the Irish would see it as offensive and so I replied, making it clear that I did not hold those same opinions. But I was called judgemental. I don't understand.

ETA: Also, whether I'm a minor or not is irrelevant. You can say whatever you want to me, I'm not easily offended. And if I say something wrong then I should be held accountable for it.

Sometimes discussion can be hard without the convenience of facial expressions to convey the emotional side of said discussion. Thus, one can attach whatever emotional meaning to it, whether it was the intent or not. It can make deep discussion veer into bad places accidentally.

Has anyone seen my chair? I went to refill my coffee, and the chair is gone. Oh, there it is facing into the corner. Have I been bad again? Come on folks lets move on in the true nature of this thread.

I thought I was being understood, but then suddenly I was being called a judgemental troll. I was looking forward to the replies because I was enjoying hearing the different opinions. I like discussing things, maybe my intensity comes across as aggression. Sorry.
