BYC Café

Urinalysis results indicate that it is not an infection that Will is dealing with - wish it was. Next week he will be lightly anesthetized and X rayed, and we will try to define the problem. Another possibility that he broached is "idiopathic inflammation' - which might be treated with anti inflammatory drugs.

This guy is smart - also one of the truly nicest people I have ever known. When Hurricane Sandy shut his practice down for several weeks, he continued to pay his staff.

Plugged in the Solstice light today,
set to glow in the early and late dark hours.
Reminding me that the days will get longer eventually.

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

Watched a buck saunter through my backyard and into the woods as I went out to feed the flock.
When I got to the pen, I found the rear portion of netting down. Stupid friggin' deer. When will they learn to stay away from the fence? This is the 5th time I've had to put the fence back up because of them. At least no one got killed this time.

Good morning and thanks for the hot coffee! We got about 6 inches of snow overnight. DH and I took care of 5 trees yesterday that had blown over in the spring winds. A difficult neighbor finally gave me permission to clean them up and get rid of the fire danger. One was in the way of snow clearing for the road in the event of a major storm. They do not live up here so not really connected to reality, but it is done!
Sour, hoping for the best for the dog!
Y'all just don't train your deer right...

This guy and eight of his friends were in the flex pipe that leads out of the bog and into the Helix filter that feeds the stream that goes back to the pond.
When I was in Juneau last week I was asked if it was normal for the pump not to be running and I said no! I ultimately had them shut down the bog because I felt that it had overflowed and caused the pond level to drop. I kept tinkering and messing with it and backing off the flow but quickly came to the acceptance that there must be a clog in the pipe. Being autumn I thought it was leaves! Surprise, surprise.
One frog was dead and decomposing. One did not look like it was going to make it. The other 7 were just fine but moving very slowly because they are cold.

I had thought that I had blocked the area off rather well with rocks to keep critters out. Obviously I was wrong. I'm going to put a 1/2" hardware cloth screen over the opening to the pipe and then build up around the area again with large stone to try to keep them out but not impede the flow of water.
