Bella tried for a 4:00 wakeup call. I made it to 4:45. Still haven't fed her yet though. I'm going to make them wait until 6:00 to have breakfast.

10F outside, sun, no breeze. We have a week of sun and Thurs it is supposed to get to 40F. The mid-winter mental health sunshine bake day!

Good afternoon Café!

After a rare dry and sunny day we are experiencing a beautiful sunset, what a treat after so many weeks of all shades of nasty grey!

There were 5 eggs in the nestbox today, but one pullet egg got cracked as the temperatures are getting rather cold.

I arranged for some hatching eggs this spring to be sent in March when my reliable broodies get ready to set:
French BCM and purebred Ameraucana. My own BCMs are quite old and after more than two decades I do have lots of different shades of green and olive eggs, but the vibrant blue and turquoise colours sadly got lost along the way and I hope to see them again in fall when the Ameraucana pullets will start to lay.
I find myself really excited already and there is still at least two month of wait ahead!
