I had small dogs,, so I attached a clear plexiglass panel to outside portion of screen door. (3 foot by 3 foot) Kept the doggies safe inside home.
When family members bring their medium to large sized puppies,, I like to keep them out of the kitchen,,,,, so food gets eaten by the human population,,, rather than the canines. This is what I install for those times.
I have this exact one.

This way, your screen door is open to allow for fresh air. Pooch cant break down very easily...
