This makes sense. My California Tan was pale yellow with a black dot on her back as a chick, then all white with that same black dot once she feathered out. Now that she's 18 weeks old and has completed her juvenile molt, she's white with some faint red feathers... not quite laced, but it has a similar effect from far away. She's got a beautiful large single comb like white leghorn, but those new reddish feathers are more like my golden comets and ISA brown. I used to think she was the most plain looking one in our flock, but she's really turned out to be a gorgeous bird. Looks and acts like she'll be laying soon, but I can't find any info online about when California Tans start producing.I called Hoover hatchery where they come from. They told me they were a cross between a production red and a white leghorn.
Edited to add that uh... she may be a rooster after seeing pics on here of other 4 month olds...
