Hello, I have 2 female call ducks almost a year old. In the last few days one of my girls was disappearing during the daytime, but she would come into the run with the others at night. Last night she did not come back and now my second girl has taken off into the unknown as well. My second girl was in a hurry to get out of the run the past two mornings, she even tried pushing past me. Which is not like her because she is the shyer one that does not care for attention or want you near her.
I am hoping and praying that they are off on eggs somewhere like chickens are known to do. Is this also normal for semi-free ranged ducks?

They probably have a hidden nest and have gone broody. This puts them at the mercy of predators. I'd lock them up as soon as is possible.

One of my girls has returned home. The other is still gone. We are going to put an air tag on her and she if she will lead us to her sister. We have two dogs who keep pretty good watch of our birds, so we are not super worried about predators during the day. But I forsure want them locked up at night...
