I want the kind of car that does whatever I tell it and brings me anywhere I want, and drives itself to the car shop

We really did put it through a ringer though. We're in the country, in a big valley. Lots of twisty roads and steep hills. Pushing to the pedal to the floor on roads like that for half an hour will make any car whine.

Yeah, that too. So many gadgets they can't function right and they won't last long.

Yeah. I am a tech nerd and I like the neat stuff these new cars can do, but it's too temporary for me to care anymore.

If someone made a open-source compute module for some cars I'd probably get a compatible one.

You rlly think my grandma can figure out how to work that? She uses Siri to do stuff on her phone bc she doesn’t understand how to use it otherwise my Grampa is even worse he needed a iPhone for his job but he’s had the same one for 8 years now. And he still can’t type on a computer.

My poor Nana uses the hunt-and-peck technique for typing on her computer, and she also sits in a chair at a angle since she has a table right in front of the desk her computer is on. Ouch.

My uncle got her a iPhone pretty early on so she knows how to do most things on there that she needs (camera, texting, calling).

My poor Nana uses the hunt-and-peck technique for typing on her computer, and she also sits in a chair at a angle since she has a table right in front of the desk her computer is on. Ouch.

I used to hunt and peck for ages, but now I use all but my pinky fingers and have memorized the QWERTZ layout, don't need to look and can type faster that most "proper typing" folks. Phone is a little faster sometimes.

Yep. I just never bothered with stuff like that since I am not a good programmer. My tech nerd knowledge leans on the side of repairing stuff.

(Hence my insistence on repairability and longevity).

I can type without looking at the keyboard too. Just a bit slow though.

I can type pretty good on phone two with two thumbs. My Mom still uses the One Index Finger Hunt-and-Peck Phone Typing method.
