Can chickens OD on black fly larvae?

Half joking, but a little concerned. Somehow the lid wasn't put on a large tupperware of black fly larvae in the garage and naturally one of our more adventurous girls figured that out and toppled it. When I came back the tupperware was completely empty. There are 14 chickens and 1 turkey that hang out in the garage during winter. I don't think it was completely full, but any thoughts on mitigating the extra fat? Unfortunately this has happened before, but never this much.

I don't think they can "overdose" really but that's a lot of fat, protein and calcium to be taking in all at once, so obviously not something you want to have happening regularly. Maybe you'll get funny poops for a day or two, and they'll be off their feed, but I doubt there'd be long term effects from a single episode of gorging.

I think you're ok. My kids once left our feed storage area open and I found a chicken in the bag munching away on BSF. I buy them in an 11lb bag online, (which is the size of a pillow) and the void of missing BSF was about 1/2 gallon volume :lau
