I'm new to ducks, having three seven-week-old Anconas. I'm raising them organically, so I am feeding a lot of herbs from my own garden.

I have a ton of chives growing in the garden, but I've read conflicting information about feeding them to ducks. I know they're in the onion family, but some sources say okay and others say definitely not.

If chives are okay, can I feed the greens as well as the flowers?

Thanks!

My ducks are free ranging and love to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Never heard of ducks eating chives, but I guess if they like them they will eat them. I think ducks know what to eat and whats good for them.

There's so much conflicting information on what ducks or any animal really can have. For every site that says they can have something there's one saying they can't. Like with garlic, some say it can be toxic to ducks but then I have a book by a well known duck farmer who says it's perfectly safe and a great immune booster. Chives seem pretty similar to onions though and across the board I've read onions are a no no so I haven't given them to my ducks.
