So me and the fam got som chicks that are 2.5 weeks old now. I was told these are Easter Eggers but do they come in the colors mentioned in the title? I’ll love these babies regardless bc when you’re here, you’re family.

They are barred/cuckoo, possibly some blue cuckoos
They are very cute
This is my barred rooster, so you can see the pattern they’ll have
And yes Easter eggers can come in that colour, Easter eggers are mixed breeds and can come in most colours

What a handsome lad!! The feed store I buy from is pretty reliable, but if they got it wrong I wouldn’t mind a barred rock tbh. My very first chicken was that breed and I lost her much to soon. 😔 I may post again halfway next month once they develop even more. Considering the bird flu and egg shortage I’m really lucky to have such healthy chicks.

I don’t know much about breed id for barred rocks, but they have yellow legs like yours so it’s possible
I’m always grateful for healthy chicks
My last had wry neck and required round the clock care for four days until he recovered, I’m honestly shocked he survived
I’m sorry for your loss

Yeah that was not a fun time… but because of that loss I learned so much to prevent to from happening again. If these are bared rocks I’m just gonna laugh bc I wanted them from the start haha!

I know Easter eggers are a mixed breed, who knows maybe they are and had a barred rock parent. That would be fire.

Oh gosh thank you for caring for him 💓 I know that could not have been easy. Sometimes chickens can surprise you and pull through!

It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it to see him stand for the first time
He runs round in circles sometimes but is otherwise fine

Well I guess you’ll find out when they lay eggs
Hopefully they are
Definitely possible they are mixes, you could post when they are older and maybe someone can id if they have barred rock in them

Easter eggers can be pretty much any color. The only traits they need to be considered easter eggers is to be a mix breed and have the blue egg gene. I have some lakeside eggers that are that color (they're Meyer hatchery exclusive designer easter eggers)
From right to left Basil, Lavender and Chocolate Mint (with the grey one in the right corner being Ginkgo making a cameo)
