A simple Google search can find many testimonies of evidence to the contrary....yes, red foxes do kill cats, particularly in the UK and such countries where they are hard pressed to find their natural prey.
We have kept cats outside for decades. We could never attribute losses or notable injuries on adult cats to Red Fox. Kittens are very vulnernerable although mother cat will defend them if she is present. Most of our cats had claws and they would survive to advanced age where they lived past breeding. Losses were easily attributed to domestic dogs, coyotes, and bobcats in that order. Raccoons where also hard on kittens.
I'm of the opinion that there is a huge difference in predator dynamics between Missouri and the UK and there is also a difference between European red foxes and those found in the US...
You brought up coyotes, bobcats and raccoons those predators are all void in the UK, as are almost all of the UKs other natural predators have been hunted to extinction long ago... The red fox and the badger for all intents rule that entire UK predatory domain so their habits are bound to different from areas where there are other predator dynamics at play...
