Can I keep rosy red minnows in a 5.5 gallon tank?

These guys get to be 2 - 3" long... personally? I think 10 gallons is more suitable, but I hear they are quite hardy so maybe they can weather a 5. I think the hardest thing of all is to find some healthy ones since they are typically kept in filthy, crowded conditions in the pet stores. Or maybe you know a local breeder? That would be cool if you can get them from a clean source. I know pet stores try hard, but since they see these as feeders, they don't always keep them in the best of conditions.

Also I believe they are real easy to breed. Quite interesting too since they behave kind of like cichlids.

It could technically be done but it's not ideal. They are schooling fish so it's recommended to keep them in groups of 5+. You'd want at least a 10 gallon for that.
