can my chickens drink chlorinated water

My husband wants to do that. He's thinking of a way to catch the rain water with a rain barrel and then rigging up something so we can use that to water them, maybe a spout that comes out the side of it. Have you ever tried that? He wanted to have it run directly into the coop (with a turn off valve) into a watering can or something along those lines.

You need to add dechlorinator when changing the fish's water.
If you set out the water in buckets for 24-48hrs before using it, fish or chickens, it will evaporate the chlorine. Will not work for chloramine, though.

Yes. Chlorinated drinking water with a residual of 3-5ppm, along with other best management practices, can provide for better feed conversion, and a reduced mortality rate. Please do not compare with fish. Any exposure to chlorinated water with as low as a residual as .1ppm is toxic to fish either in the wild or in your tank.

i swear its down to measuring drinking chemicals from water out taps that we drink out of to give to chickens????? really only .3ppm of this or 6 of that..really....my gramma is laughing...and ll those dirty fingers that go in the mouth when young, specially here where we step in cow pies{ and burn them for heat, and we put them in the fire without gloves} just joking{really}

I use rainwater for my fish for years and have had no problems. It's better and saves you from using a dechlorinator.
