Can Racoons or opossums bite through chicken wire???

We use poultry wire to keep our flocks in,
but have defenses on the outside.
High joule hot wire pulses every 5 seconds at 3 and 6 inches and at the top of the 7 ft runs.
50% shade cloth against the poultry wire to protect against human predators, so they can't actually see in during the day and helps at night to confuse animal predators.
Baited leg traps around the outside of the runs. Anything caught shouldn't have been there and are executed for trespassing on our property.
We have very large run areas that cover several thousand sq ft so hardware cloth vs our current setup was/is cheaper per sq ft for production costs.
We dust with sulfur (on the preimeter) on a schedule to deter snakes which works very well.

Chicken wire is just that, designed to contain chickens. Works great to keep them out of my garden. Certainly will not work to keep other predators away from them.

However, you need to define what you mean by chicken wire. I have a chicken run fenced with some heavy duty wire that looks like traditional chicken wire, but is galvanized and heavy guage. With 3 strands of electric, it has held up fine against whatever is out there, which I know includes coons, fox, bobcat, and possum.

My garden, on the other hand, is protected from the chickens with some pretty flimsy stuff that cost about $40 for 150'. It does keep the chickens out of the garden, but that is all I expect it to do.
