can you feed a big dog a small dogs food?

Ive changed my small dogs food and i was going to give the rest of my old food to my friend and she has a large dog will it be ok?

My 2 adult dachshunds have ate large breed diamond puppy food for over a year this past year and they are still kicking.

They did not gain weight either.
 
actually its not good to feed long term small dog food to a large breed puppy. large breed puppies need specific nutrition for there bones since they grow differantly then a little dogs bones and it can cuase issues with growth. also small dogs are prone to getting hypoglicemia where big dogs are not.
 
He never said the dog was a puppy, and a "small" dog food really ONLY designated by the size of the kibble, not the contents of the food itself. Feeding your dog smaller size kibble will not have any ill effect on a larger dog.

my big malamute would not eat large kibble food... she would only eat food that was about the size of a M&M
